Entrepreneur in Residence (Intern)
Shape the future of energy at a fast-moving, early-stage climate startup-backed by top investors, driven by real impact across Europe’s energy landscape.
We usually respond within a day
At Podero, we’re building the future of energy consumption – combining the power of smart software with everyday devices to transform how people consume energy. Our mission is bold: turn homes and their devices into the most powerful tool for reducing CO₂ and electricity costs. We’re early - and moving fast. We’re backed by leading investors like Planet A and Systemiq Capital and already working with major energy providers like E.On and Total Energies.
The role
As our Entrepreneur in Residence, you won’t be supporting someone else’s project. You’ll get your own. We hand you a real business initiative and you run it end to end: strategy, go-to-market, budget and execution. You get a front-row seat to how an energy tech startup is built, and the resources and backing to build something yourself.
We see this role as the start of a longer path. Once you’ve built the initiative, you’ll know it better than anyone, so it makes sense for you to keep leading it as it grows. Over time, that can open up even more responsibility and a long-term role at Podero.
What you'll do
Your Tasks
Initiative Ownership: Run your own business initiative end to end, from the first idea and strategy through to a working operation that delivers results.
Go-to-Market: Define who the initiative needs to reach, where to find them and what will convince them, then turn that into a concrete launch plan.
Budget Responsibility: Manage your own budget, decide where it has the most impact and shift spend based on what the numbers tell you.
Acquisition: Build the channels, content and partnerships that bring the right people in, and run experiments to find out what works fastest.
Building Trust: Lead the early conversations yourself, deal with skepticism openly and turn cautious first contacts into committed participants.
Communication & Relationships: Own how Podero communicates with the people in your initiative, keep them informed and engaged, and grow those relationships over time.
Automation & AI: Design workflows (AI-assisted wherever possible) so that communication and operations keep running smoothly as volume grows.
Systems & Scaling: Set up the processes, tools and KPIs that let the initiative scale beyond you and keep running long-term.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with our founding and leadership team to align your initiative with the product and the company’s priorities.
What we're looking for
Experience in a demanding workplace: a startup, a scale-up, consulting or a project of your own
An entrepreneurial mindset: you see a gap, take responsibility and get it moving
Comfortable setting your own direction and following through without waiting for instructions
Genuine curiosity about the energy industry and want to help make the energy transition happen in people’s homes
Comfortable approaching people you don’t know and winning them over
Resilient and self-motivated: setbacks sharpen your approach rather than stop you
Strong writer and communicator who can explain technical topics simply and with warmth
AI-native: you use AI tools every day to research, write, automate and move faster
German at native level and fluent English are required
Available full-time (preferred) or as a working student at around 20 hours a week, with the willingness to increase your hours as the initiative grows
What You'll Get
Mission-Driven Work: Help reduce 4.4% of global CO₂ emissions by contributing to the transition towards a more sustainable energy grid and strengthening Europe’s energy independence.
Ownership & Initiative: Take real ownership of your work. At Podero, you’re encouraged to pursue your own ideas, shape your scope, and actively drive topics forward from day one. You’ll own your pipeline from day one.
Learning / Professional Growth: Join a fast-paced, early-stage startup with significant learning and career advancement opportunities. Access to a strong network, including investors and key stakeholders in the energy and tech industries.
Work Flexibility: Remote or hybrid work options with the ability to work in our Vienna office. We’d love to have you on site in Vienna for the first 8-12 weeks of your employment.

About Podero
Energy suppliers face many challenges in their B2C business, including low margins, low differentiation of their electricity offers, emerging market players, unprofitable electricity trading, and limited IT resources.
Podero is a software platform for utilities that reduces the energy cost of flexible consumer devices like heat pumps, EVs and chargers, inverters, and home batteries by over 25%. Utilities roll out Podero using our white-label web app or integrating our API into their apps. Podero steers devices based on consumers’ PV production, fluctuating spot electricity prices, and the grid-stabilizing balancing energy markets. Podero enables utilities to trade the aggregate device power on the energy markets, ensuring a win-win situation for both utilities and consumers.
Customers include E.ON, TotalEnergies, oekostrom, KELAG, and more. In 2025, Podero raised a €5.5m seed round from Planet A Ventures, Systemiq Capital, Pale Blue Dot and Push Ventures.
